KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the lead Electrical Engineer and execute assignments and assume ownership as the electrical designer or design engineer on a project.
  • Perform field verification tasks confirming as-built conditions and any code deficiencies.
  • Perform engineering calculations confirming load and service requirements based on Code and program requirements.
  • Prepare engineered plans either directly in Cad or with the assistance of a Cad draftsperson. Engineered plans consist of the following: schedules, site plan, single line diagrams, power and lighting plans, fire alarm plans, and details.
  • Assist in preparing project specifications in close coordination with the lead Electrical Engineer.
  • Assist lead Electrical Engineer in preparing Basis of Design and conceptual designs gathered from Client’s program requirements. 
  • Occasional attendance in project meetings.
  • Review and approve equipment materials submittals and shop drawings in a timely manner. Respond to contractor requests for information (RFI’s) in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with installing contractors on constructability of the proposed design. Prepare field and punch list reports of site findings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Previous experience with a consulting engineering or A/E firm as a Design Engineer or Designer in Data Center/Mission Critical and Commercial Projects. Experience in Institutional and Higher Education Projects a plus.
  • 3-6 years experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer a plus
  • LEED Accreditation a plus
  • Knowledge in building and electrical codes
  • Affiliations (IEEE, 7x24, USGBC, etc.) a plus
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Critical Electrical Systems (ie. UPS, Paralleling Switchgear, Generators, Power Distribution Units, etc.).
  • Computer background: MS Office, AutoCAD. Familiarity with electrical analysis and load flow software, such as SKM Powertools.
  • Revit user preferred. Glumac provides extensive Revit training, including group and individual training programs.
