Silicon Valley Office: HVAC Mechanical Designer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the lead Mechanical Engineer and execute assignments and assume ownership as the mechanical designer on a project.
  • Perform field verification tasks confirming as-built conditions and any code deficiencies.
  • Prepare engineered plans either directly in AutoCAD or REVIT. Engineered plans consist of the following: schedules, site plans, flow diagrams & P&ID’s, floor plans, fire sprinkler plans, and details.
  • Must be able to size duct, pipe, VAV boxes and other system components based on project requirements and engineering criteria.
  • Assist lead Mechanical Engineer in preparing Basis of Design and conceptual designs gathered from Client’s program requirements.
  • Occasional attendance in project meetings.
  • Collaborate with installing contractors on constructability of the proposed design. Prepare field and punch list reports of site findings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience with a consulting engineering or A/E firm as a Design Engineer or Designer in Commercial, Institutional, Healthcare, etc. projects. Experience in Institutional and Higher Education Projects a plus.
  • 3 + years experience, Degree in Graphic Arts or Engineering Science a plus
  • LEED Accreditation a plus
  • Knowledge in local building and mechanical codes a plus
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer background: MS Office, familiarity with load programs such as Trane Trace a plus. 
  • Revit user preferred. Glumac provides extensive Revit training, including group and individual training programs.
