Silicon Valley Office: HVAC Mechanical Project Engineer
30-Jan-2012KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the lead Mechanical Engineer and execute assignments and assume ownership as the mechanical design engineer on a project.
- Perform field verification tasks confirming as-built conditions and any code deficiencies.
- Perform engineering calculations confirming load and service requirements based on Code and program requirements.
- Prepare engineered plans either directly in CAD or with the assistance of a CAD draftsperson.
- Assist in preparing project specifications in close coordination with the lead Mechanical Engineer.
- Assist lead Mechanical Engineer in preparing Basis of Design and conceptual designs gathered from Client’s program requirements.
- Attendance at project meetings.
- Review and approve equipment materials submittals and shop drawings and respond to contractor requests for information (RFI’s) in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with installing contractors on constructability of the proposed design. Prepare field and punch list reports of site findings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- PE Registration a plus
- Previous experience with a consulting engineering or A/E firm as a Design Engineer in Commercial, Institutional, Healthcare, etc. projects. Experience in Data Center and Laboratory Projects a plus.
- 7 to 10 years experience
- LEED Accreditation a plus
- Knowledge in local building and mechanical codes
- Affiliations (ASHRAE, USGBC, etc.) a plus
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer background: MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit a plus.
