The courses are certified for AIA credits and provide credit for sustainability. The following are examples of courses provided by Glumac: Sustainability Contributes to Design Learn about the principles of designing with natural energies using innovative HVAC and lighting systems and a discussion of one of the firm's recent showcase sustainable design projects including lessons learned from the Wayne L. Morse U.S. Federal Courthouse, in Eugene, Oregon. The first LEED Gold certified courthouse in the United States, the Wayne L. Morse courthouse is an example of innovative integration of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems with architecture, including underfloor air distribution, radiant heating and cooling, heat recovery systems and daylighting design. Energy Water Conservation Glumac also presented the principles of sustainable design as they apply to healthcare facilities in Southern California. The Providence Newberg Medical Center in Newberg, Oregon is the first LEED Gold certified hospital in the United States. The presentation reviews the LEED scorecard for the project and includes discussion as to how the LEED strategies would apply to Southern California projects. The second part of the presentation focuses on additional energy and water saving technologies that apply to Southern California healthcare projects. Building Integrated Wind Turbines Glumac discusses recent developments in wind turbine technology and current market trends for commercialization of the use of wind turbines. Building integrated turbines have been applied to one of Glumac's recent showcase sustainable projects at the Port of Long Beach Administrative Headquarters. The building incorporates several sustainable technologies, including underfloor air distribution, radiant heating and cooling, ice storage systems, photovoltaics and daylighting design. The presentation will focus on the potential for implementation of building integrated wind turbines. If your office is interested in a course, please contact Glumac.
