ccrd and Glumac Celebrate 10th Year of Alliance

What started as a friendship between Dave Duthu of ccrd partners and Dick Glumac over 25 years ago has evolved into a 10 year formal engineering alliance between the firms. Dick Glumac and Dave Duthu started working together on microelectronic projects for Texas Instruments. Dave represented the local mechanical, electrical and plumbing, (MEP) engineering firm and Dick provided acoustic and vibration testing and analysis, a critical component for improving yield in micro electronics' facilities. The friendship between the partners evolved, not only in working together on significant projects, but also on social occasions including motorcycle trips across the country. 

In 1999, Glumac and ccrd partners formalized their relationship with an engineering alliance.  ccrd partners has offices in Houston, Dallas, Austin, Miami, Phoenix, Denver, Nashville, Richmond and Washington D.C. They have specialized expertise in laboratory facilities, including bio-level IV containment labs for projects with the Department of Defense, Department of Energy and many other Federal clients. Additionally, ccrd partners has one of the largest healthcare portfolios in the nation and is currently working on several million sf facilities throughout the country. Glumac has partnered with ccrd partners on over 25 projects over the last 10 years including commissioning for an 860,000 sf R&D campus, a 770,000 sf medical campus and several data centers.

In addition to their strong partnership, ccrd partners and Glumac serve their clients well because of their strength in engineering technology and systems. For example, both firms utilize standard details, specifications, research data and Revit 3-D modeling systems. Both firms have invested heavily in Revit technology over the last three years. Sharing the development of standards not only allows us to exchange information better when we're working on projects jointly but also reduces our overhead costs.

Both firms have become market leaders in building commissioning over the last five years.  Together the firms are currently commissioning over 40 million sf of projects throughout the United States. Since commissioning schedules are challenging to track, considering construction delays, both firms are able to use each other's resources to "staff up" when significant manpower is needed at completion of a project.

Obviously, the personal relationship between the partners is a big part of the success of the alliance. When you have implicit trust at the very top of the organization your primary goal is working in your client's best interest. Resolving scopes of work between firms is easily accomplished.
