Alibaba Asia Headquarters – Visitor Center
As international online retail giant Alibaba continues its extraordinary growth, it is undergoing an expansion to its headquarters campus in Hangzhou, China. A new 30,000-square-meter (98,425-square-foot) central visitor center is being constructed in a converted office building, providing space for an expected 3,000 visitors each day.
Glumac’s Shanghai mechanical, electrical, and plumbing teams provided design services on the building MEP upgrade and interior fit-out of the two-story space. Glumac assisted the project team in identifying deficiencies and issues in the existing MEP system and provided upgrade options and solutions to improve the comfort, indoor air quality, and overall energy efficiency of the expansion. An indoor air filtration and monitoring system is being installed, and will feature a display to ensure the PM2.5 is below 35μg/m3. Energy-efficient lighting sensors and a high-end visitor security system will also be featured in the finished space, as well as water efficient lavatory fixtures.
The completed visitor center will feature a two-story lobby, a VIP floor, visitor conference rooms, a training center, gift shop, open offices, a family room and service center.
