DGS Natural Resources HQ, P Street
Glumac is currently providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and energy services for a new, modern office building on P Street for the State of California, Department of General Services.
The property is designed to meet LEED Platinum and zero-net energy standards, with such features as radiant floor heating and chilled beams, as well as reclaimed water systems. The building is expected to perform at an Energy Use Intensity (EUI) of no more than 30 kBtu/sf/year and use at least 50 percent less water than a typical, comparable office building.
The P Street Building will serve as the new 20-story, 838,000-square-foot Department of Natural Resources headquarters, with a single level of below-grade parking for approximately 50 spaces to house agency vehicles. The tower, which will also encompass a 300 seat auditorium, will be the workplace of 3,500 state employees.
DGS will make some exterior improvements to the historic Heilbron house, which will remain on site. The project also includes construction of a childcare facility to accommodate 120 children. This will be the largest childcare facility constructed by the state, and was enabled by Senator Bill 401 (Child Care Facilities: State Employees, Chapter 235, Statutes of 2017).
The building will operate using 100% solar energy through the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). This energy program is part of a first-of-its-kind agreement with SMUD in which DGS’ Sacramento portfolio will move toward solar power.
